Aesthetics Study Program Coordinator, Intercollege
Dr. Marios Stylianou is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nicosia and since 2019 he holds the position of Coordinator of the Aesthetics Study Program of Intercollege, which belongs to the educational group of the University of Nicosia. He earned his PhD Thesis in 2007, from the University of Cyprus in the Department of Chemistry, in the field of Synthetic Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry. He collaborated with the University of Cyprus as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemistry Research Programs and as a visiting Lecturer in the teaching of Chemistry courses. From 2009 up today, he also teaches Chemistry courses in the Medical, Pharmacy and Human Biology Study Programs at the University of Nicosia.
His research interests focus on the synthesis, structural characterization and study of molecular models, towards metalloenzyme-protein interactions, which contain phenolic derivatives as organic substrates involved in electron transfer reaction mechanisms. He has specialized in the methods of structural characterization of substances by X-ray Crystallography, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and Electrochemical techniques.
He has a series of scientific articles published in authoritative international scientific journals, writing chapters related to his research interests in scientific books of Chemistry, participation with oral presentations in international scientific conferences of Chemistry and has served as a supervising professor in several thesis projects of students in the field of Biological and Synthetic Chemistry, as well in the field of Cosmetology.
He is an active member of the Hellenic Cosmetology Society, the American Chemical Society and a member of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC).
